I Will Miss Your Inspiration. | Reviewer: Frank | 6/23/2008 I saw Boston back in October of 1987. It was everything I'd hoped and more. I could not believe such a cool band, with such a generally uplifting message, with so much energy, could be so "feel-good" at the same time. Hitch A Ride is definitely, hands down, my favorite Boston song and in my Top 10 all-time favorites. With the smoking guitar solo through various movements near the end, it's also the one I most attribute to Brad Delp's passing and walking into the sunset. Think of how many songs talk about "the other side". I've thought about this often. I know Brad's end was suicide and I know too well the pain he must've felt. I guess he just didn't have it in him to keep going and that's really a shame. I think, if he'd known me, I might've given him a reason to go on. I met Brad Delp back in May of 1992 when he toured with Barry Goudreau and their spin-off band RTZ. I have a picture with Brad and Barry at the age of just 20. The one thing I remember vividly about that 10-minute encounter was how amazingly friendly and totally cool he was in person. Brad, I hope you're in a better place, pal. Your caliber of talent and simple good nature is in grave danger of total extinction in this country and so are fans like me who just appreciated you 'cause you were GOOD and not 'cause you were popular. This song will be my anthem as I leave my big-city hometown to a very small town in the mountains to get away from the insanity. Thanks, Brad! It was the 1st of a 9 show run at the Worcester Centrum in Worcester , Ma . Hitch a ride is my favorite Boston tune , but I figured I would mention that concert .
