Mama Said Lyrics
Artist(Band):Metallica
Mama, she has taught me well
Told me when I's young
Son, your life's an open book
Don't close it 'fore it's done
The brightest flame burns quickest
That's what I heard her say
A son's heart's owed to mother
But I must find my way
Let my heart go
Let your son grow
Mama, let my heart go
Or let this heart be still
"Rebel", my new last name
Wild blood in my veins
Apron strings around my neck
The mark that still remains
left home at an early age
Of what I heard was wrong
I never asked forgiveness
But when is said is done
Let my heart go
Let your son grow
Mama, let my heart go
Or let this heart be still
Never I ask of you
What never I gave
But you gave me your emptiness
I now take to my grave
Never I ask of you
But never I gave
But you gave me your emptiness
I now take to my grave
So let this heart be still
Mama, now I'm coming home
I'm not all you wished of me
But a mother's love for her son
Unspoken, help me be
Oh Yeah I took your love for granted
And all the things you said to me
I need your arms to welcome me
But a cold stone's all I see
Let my heart go
Let your son grow
Mama, let my heart go
Or let this heart be still
Let my heart go
Mama, let my heart go
You never let my heart go
So let this heart be still
Never I ask of you
What never I gave
But you gave me your emptiness
I now take to my grave
Never I ask of you
But never I gave
But you gave me your emptiness
I now take to my grave
So let this heart be still

i'm sorry but for you to say that today NO music at all speaks any emotion is ignorence and stereotypcal
many underground bands write songs out of their emotion and for what they beleive in to either send message to the public or to just tell their stories and if you were a real metal fan you would know that

This is a perfect song. I just love it. It's deep and emotional and you really connect with it. This is what the songs were suppossed to be. Not todays crap which talks nothing bout fame and crap. Songs are not meant to be written only for money, they should express feelings like this does. They should sned messages unlike today's shit
Metallica rulez
Contrast | Reviewer: Lucas | 3/24/2008
It's songs like this that show Jaymez' true genius, and just how human he is. You get songs like Master of Puppets, Ride the Lightning, and Some Kind of Monster... then he gives us songs like Fade to Black and this... what a contrast in emotion...
All Hail James

I love Metallica myself. This song is so deep. It makes me realise how much I do love my mom. I agree with OuterEight, if she ever did leave, I'd probly literally commit suicide. :'( This song is so deep. I love it.
Another great song by Metallica | Reviewer: OuterEight | 1/31/2008
I haven't heard this song for ages, but I know the reason why I don't listen to it much... its because it scares the living hell out of me and puts fear of death in me.
If I die before my mother; this is one song I want to be played at my funeral... chances are though I won't die before my mum because shes 2 decades older than me, (im 20 now shes 40 this year).... Growing up through these years, my mum has raised me herself which i can't thank her enough for.... Me and my mother have such a close mother/son relationship which nobody i don't think could ever have....
I just hope she doesn't die =[ because it would literally make me commit suicide due to her being the only family I truly have. Harsh as it may seem but it is true.
Love it forever. | Reviewer: Anonymous | 1/24/2008
First song I ever remember hearing. My mum had it on a tape, and she used to play it all the time in our car. Well, sometimes I wonder if my mum still loves me. This song is perfect I guess... she used to be so protective of me. I love her, and this song, forever. xxx
Metallica, you rule.
very touching | Reviewer: Anon15 | 12/28/2007
this song is touching and emotional. the lyrics make loads of sense... an excellent expression of james' love for his mother, (without whom he grew up), yet an equally good expression of the frictional relationship between them...
very touching | Reviewer: Doron | 12/28/2007
This song is very touching... especially the line: "I need your arms to welcome me
But a cold stone's all I see"
That line is very deep. I'm gonna visit my mother today because of that.
